Nas is one of the greatest Hip-Hop MC's of all time, however his albums have suffered because of his penchant for choosing dubious beats. Luckily his lead-up singles are usually fire, and this track doesn't disappoint.
The production for the track is from the late,great Heavy D, who passed the beat on to Salaam Remi to give to give to Nas. It's in safe hands. The refrain of 'New York CIty' is a rallying cry, and lends the song an 'Empire State of Mind' like grandeur. As usual with these region specific bangers, it's more likely to be a hit stateside than in Australia.
